Typical NIMBY comments (Not In My Backyard)

If you consume electricity from the power grid, then do you not see the hypocrisy when opposing the upgrading or expanding of the power grid? You are either part of the problem or part of the solution. You either have no need for electricity (maybe you live in a warm cave) or you are a hypocrite. If you do have your own fully independent power source using something like a petrol generator, steam power, solar, wind, hydro.. whatever floats you boat ...then please post proof of this instead of meaningless comments. Meaningless because you comments are facilitated by the power from the power grid. It was the same rubbish with mobile phone towers; everyone wants service but they do not want towers in their area or back yard - NIMBY. The very nature of wireless phone coverage and electric power necessitates the need to build towers and pylons.

Yes they are ugly. But your house is ugly. Your rinky dink shed is ugly. Your Chinese car is ugly. Most material processions we have in these beautiful glens are a stain on the landscape. And yes there could be better and more expensive solutions but none are economically viable. You want cheap electricity so, you - yourself, yes you, are the problems. You are statistically 99.9999999995% certainly using the power grid to charge / power your battery, laptop, computer, phone to type your comments. FACT! And if are the one person in a billion people who does not use the power grid in some way, shape, or form please let me come and live on Mars with you. Remember facts do not care about your feelings. You are using electric power right now to read this message. Even if you sent a hand written note by way of a pigeon courier: a) someone would have a "wall of pigeon truth" about the pigeon conspiracy see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birds_Aren%27t_Real , or b) there would be a "stop pigeon abuse" truth wall, and c) a "paper is poison" sign, probably printed on a paper poster, would be displayed in the local shop and only displayed via a window illuminated by guess what, an electric light bulb. Be the solution - not the problem.
