The local people don't.

The local people don't benefit at all from this, the pylons are a blip on the beauty of our country, which is admired the world over for its natural beauty. If the South want cheap energy then put their windmills out at sea and run the cables under it and bury them when they reach the land. The only reason they want to put them above ground, is because its the cheapest option, which means greater profits for the shareholders. The land belongs to the people, or at least it should, and we need to protect it for the future generations to enjoy what we have enjoyed.
