Stop selling out the Highlands and ignoring its residents.

Absolutely not.

While the plan is framed as heralding the transportation of clean energy, it ultimately fails to deliver benefits to the very landscapes and communities the pylons would traverse.

Constructing giant pylons across Loch Brora and in front of Carrol Rock would cause significant harm to local wildlife by disrupting habitats and migration patterns. Local residents would be negatively affected, both by the visual intrusion on their surroundings and potential impacts on health and property values. The area’s scenic beauty is irreplaceable, supporting tourism and recreation; pylons would permanently degrade this natural and cultural asset.

The project represents an authoritarian approach to achieving net-zero energy, imposing severe environmental and social costs on communities without delivering direct benefits to them. Other local interests for example small businesses, cultural heritage sites, and outdoor recreation areas would also be harmed. Therefore, the plan to run giant pylons across Loch Brora and in front of Carrol Rock is unacceptable and should not go ahead.

The environmental, social, and cultural costs vastly outweigh the supposed energy benefits, which bypass the very communities and landscapes it claims to serve.
