Pylons are old technology. The cables give off 1° C to atmosphere per metre of line. They are noisy, intrusive and UGLY. They are also long outdated. Overhead lines kill birds - innocent birds who fly into them and break their necks or tear their wings. Some birds fly at night and can't easily see the lines.
THIS IS OUR LAND and it does not belong to the here today gone tomorrow politicians who have money invested in these schemes. Pylons are about profit. Doing the job with sensitivity for the environment should be No 1 priority instead of only lip service being paid to nature.
NO ONE IS AGAINST GREEN ENERGY. Pylons are not green and nor are they cheap. The steel is all coming from China and the carbon debt is still created on this planet, our planet, - whether made in China or Scunthorpe.
PYLONS ARE NO LONGER AN OPTION IN THIS DAY AND AGE. We have better technology, we have green technology and we have technology that is not easily attacked by alien forces using simple £10 drones. One of those can take a powerline out for a day. A small drone and a tail of tinfoil can stop the power flowing. We have used up the savings of the peace dividend. Now do what is right and do what is safe for the Country.
